The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA)  has reviewed  rules and pricing formula governing public auctions in the country.

According a memo sighted by Starr News,” the ratio of distribution is now 70% to the general public and 30% to the Confiscated Assets Committee”.

Additionally, the statement said: “Where the original owners is the beneficiary of the auction, the Reserve Price will be twice the duties payable only”.

The changes were contained in a letter signed October 16,2019 by Colonel Kwadwo Damoah, acting Commissioner  Customs Division.

The development comes in the wake of the directive by board chair of the GRA Professor Emeritus Stephen Adei that all purported protocol clearance of goods to his office as part of measures to block revenue leakages.

According to Prof. Adei, any officer who goes contrary to the directive will have himself to blame.

“From today if anybody says there is order from above, and you collaborate and you are caught you will be sacked immediately. When there is order from above refer that order from above to me, if they say its from operations room in Jubilee House, say Stephen Addai says if you want to send directives from operations, send it to him and the commissioner to direct”.
