Omama Foundation International together with Audrey Maison Ministries and their partners have constructed a four-seater-ultra-modern toilet facility for Sapomaa M/A Basic School at Nkoranza in the Bono East Region to aid proper sanitation among the pupils.

The project which started early this year was commissioned by Prophetess Audrey Maison, Pastor Maison and partners, the main sponsors on November 11, 2019 costing over GH¢10,000.00.

The plight of the school came to light when Omama Foundation International stormed the community in 2018 to embark on mission work where the group painted the school and later went to construct a pipe born water for the school.

Speaking at the commissioning of the four-seater toilet facility with two basins, Prophetess Audrey Maison charged the teachers and the pupil to take very good care of the facility because it going to help to keep the environment and the pupils neat.

Mrs Maison said “I couldn’t hide the disappointment when I first visited the school to see pupil defecate on the school compound because there was no toilet facility. I couldn’t believe that at this time and age children can go to school without getting proper place to ease themselves and also learn better so we decided to build the toilet.”

“But with what I am seeing today, the kids are happy and it also tells me that there is a lot that one can do in the school, that is there is massive erosion, dilapidated structure, no computer lab and many other facilities that would aid teaching and learning in the school,” she stated.

Mrs Maison said Audrey Masion Ministries have currently partner with the Trust Hospital in Accra and Spectra Hospital, also in Kumasi to perform free mammograms for cancer patient in both communities.

On his part, Pastor Maison said children are the most important assert that Ghana have, “you train your child and your future is secured but if you let your child go uneducated the future as a country is destroyed.”

The headmistress of the school, Ms Patricia Adoma said the school which was established in 1960 lacked basic teaching and learning materials including water and toilet facility but with the intervention of Omama and Audrey Ministries the school can now boast of these amenities.

“We all know that living without toilet facility is like living in hell so getting this is really dear and we cherished it. I therefore stand on behalf of the entire school and the community to promise that we shall have proper utilization and maintenance of the facility,” Ms Adoma stated.

The Municipal Director of Education for Nkoransa South, Mr Yaw Adomako Poku said basic schools in the municipality lack toilet facilities and therefore thanked the two organisations for such a gesture.

Mr Poku said the construction of the facility will surely improve lateness to school, enrolment, keep the pupil neat and above all help maintain the environment.

The occasion was graced by Nananom of the community, players in the educational industry, Parent Teacher Association, teachers and other opinion leaders in the area where the pupil displayed some cultural activities to entertain their guest.
