A Police patrol team dispatched by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Eastern Regional Police Headquarters on Monday night rescued a young lady from her wife-beater husband.

The incident occurred at Nkurakan, a community near the Eastern Regional capital Koforidua.

The woman had escaped from the husband who was battering her mercilessly. She went into hiding in a friend’s room half-naked but was still being pursued by the suspect partner threatening to kill her.

The suspect allegedly thrashed the victim several times, violently stepped on her abdomen and attempted to strangle her. The suspect seized her mobile phone preventing her from calling for help.

A distress call to the DOVVSU information room by an informant led to the rescue of the victim whiles at her hideout.

Physical examination on her uncovered many marks of assault and bruises all over the body.

She has been issued with Medical forms by DOVVSU for medical treatment.

The suspect is, however, yet to be arrested by Police.

Starr News has gathered the victim was staying with the suspect at Akpamu, a farming community in the Yilo Krobo municipality but left the husband to stay in Nkrukan a few weeks ago ostensibly to flee from the unprovoked incessant assaults by her husband.

But the husband became furious, trailed and located the house to assault her.

The real cause of the love turned sour relationship between the two partners has not been established.
