The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in partnership with the Permanent Mission of Ghana to the UN and the United Nations Office of Human Resources (OHR) will on Wednesday, November 20 to Thursday, November 21, organize a two-day outreach programme/career fair, to create awareness in member states about career opportunities and internships at the UN.

Ghana is selected as a beneficiary of the outreach programme due to its immense contribution to the UN Peacekeeping Operations, with the aim of enhancing the chances of Ghanaian applicants and increasing the number of Ghanaians employed in the UN.
The outreach programme involves workshops, presentations and seminars for potential applicants.

The areas of training include capacity building and networking with civil society organizations and academia, with the view of acquiring knowledge on UN recruitments processes and enhancing prospects for passing UN interviews.

In a press release signed by the Director of Administration at the YEA, Chris Arthur, it stated that the event will provide the avenue to deliver information sessions to a variety of groups on the requirements for civilian professionals in areas such as management and administration, socio-economic development, political, peace and humanitarian issues.
Other areas include Information Communication Technology (ICT), legal issues, public information, conference management, internal security and safety as well as logistics, transportation and supply chain.

Management of the YEA is confident that the programme directly forms part of the new policy direction and initiatives of the Agency especially with the Job Centre and the Work Abroad Project.

According to the release, the programme will assist qualified and interested Ghanaians in their search for credible pathways and access to UN career opportunities and jobs.
The Fair is expected to have speakers such as Frederick Ameyaw, Head of Information Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations, New York and Floresha Berisha, Human Resource Officer, Staffing Diversity &Outreach Session Strategic Talent Management Service, UN Secretariat.
