Former President John Mahama has appealed to Ghanaians to reject the governing New Patriotic Party and President Akufo-Addo in the December polls because they have nothing new to offer.

According to him, the government has reached its wit end with development and innovation in solving the countries problems.

“Don’t expect anything better than what they’ve done. There’s nothing new for them to do. The onus lies on you to vote with your conscience in this year’s election. Assess the quality of your own life under this regime and vote based on that, just as former President Kufuor said years back,” Mr. Mahama said at Sienchem in Ahafo Region on his Speakout tour.

He further noted: “God created darkness for a reason so that we can all see the benefits of light. Today we’ve seen the importance of light. All the promises of the NPP in 2016 have turned out to be a sham. Be ye employment opportunities, 1 district 1 factory, 1 million dollars for each constituency, 1 village 1 dam, among others. They were thinking four years will never come. In fact, they cannot do anything meaningful beyond what they’ve done.”

Meanwhile, Chiefs in the Region have joined their counterparts in the Western North Region to complain and also condemn what they say is government’s unexplained termination of various road projects under the Cocoa Roads Programme.

The road projects, initiated by NDC were aimed at improving the road network in the cocoa-growing areas of the country. Upon assumption of office in January 2017, President Nana Akufo-Addo ordered that the road works and other ongoing infrastructure works across the country should be stopped.

Unhappy with the development, chiefs in the affected communities have in their interactions with the NDC flagbearer urged their citizens to vote and return President Mahama to office “so that you can come and complete the roads and other projects in our area”.
