First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo

First Lady Rebbecca Akufo-Addo has cancelled a scheduled women program in Accra following the confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Ghana.

The government has disclosed that two cases of the novel viral disease have been confirmed in Ghana.

“Both individuals returned to Ghana from Norway and Turkey. So these are imported cases of COVID -19 Both patients are currently being kept in isolation and are stable. We have initiated processes for contact tracing.

“I wish to assure all Ghanaians that the Government of Ghana together with all Health Partners will continue to work assiduously to ensure the situation is contained. We wish to encourage every Ghanaian to take care of their health and that of their families by adhering to the following precautionary measures,” Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu said.

In a statement, the office of the first lady said: “The office of the First Lady wishes to announce the cancellation of the International Women’s Day High Level Event scheduled for Labadi Beach Hotel this evening.

“This is in view of the confirmed cases of COVID19 in Ghana, announced by the Health Minister yesterday.

“The Office of the First Lady entreats all Ghanaians to take good care of themselves by strictly adhering to the following precautionary measures as outlined by the Minister of Health”

The meausres include: “Regular and thorough washing of hands with soap under running water and use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, avoid shaking of hands, Keep a distance of two meters from person with fever, cough, sneezing and difficulty in breathing”
