Shortage of hand sanitizers has hit Takoradi in the Western region following the confirmation of Coronavirus cases in Ghana.

Experts say alcohol-based sanitizers help to deter the spread of germs and illness-causing bacteria, particularly in busy environments like schools and offices

Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene-Gyan reports that most of the shops in Takoradi have run out of hand Sanitizers to the extent that 100ml of kleanz is now sold between 15  and 20pesewas instead of the regular of 4.50pesewas.

Ghana has confirmed its 7th case of coronavirus, Information minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah announced on Tuesday.

It comes days after four additional cases were confirmed Sunday after the initial two that were recorded last Thursday.

So far,  total of 143 suspected cases has been tested for COVID-19 by the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) and Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR).

On Monday, two Italians who were set to enter Ghana were stopped from entering the country.
