The Member of Parliament for Ayensuano Constituency Samuel Ayeh Paye says more consented efforts is required to ensure that Coronavirus disease does not spread to rural areas in the Country .

The Lawmaker opines that, it would be disastrous for the country should the pandemic reels its head in rural communities due to weak healthcare system and socio-cultural factors.

The MP shared these sentiments when he donated 40 pieces of PPEs, quantities of gumboots and helmets, two boxes of hand gloves, fifteen packs of face masks, twenty-five veronica buckets, ten thermometer guns, ten boxes of alcohol based hand sanitizers, thirteen hospital beds, and 8 wheel chairs to the Ayensuano District Health Directorate .

The Lawmaker said the items are part of his contributions to helping the Health Directorate prevent the spread of the Coronavirus disease to the district which is very deprived. “The District Director of Health Services is very happy with it because they found it difficult to protect themselves if somebody comes with a symptom similar to Covid-19. They didn’t have PPEs to get closer to such persons to pick temperature let alone sample so I have brought about 40 of the PPEs. The District didn’t have contactless thermometers what they had was the one they put in their armpit which was not safe for health workers this time”

The MP maintains that looking at our social and cultural establishments in this district “if we are not careful and one person gets infection it would be disastrous for us so I want to appeal to my constituents to be very careful and abide by the rules and regulation of prevention of Covid -19”.

The MP revealed he has been embarking on public education in farming communities in the constituency on coronavirus sharing hand washing kits to to be placed in vantage areas to encourage frequent hand washing.

The Ayensuano District Health Director, Esther Oku -Afari said the District has no Hospital therefore relying on Health Centers and CHPs compounds in the fight against the Pandemic therefore the items will be distributed to the facilities for the intended purposes.

She commended the MP for his relentless efforts is supporting the health directorate .
