Following the confirmed coronavirus cases in the Volta region on April 13, a former deputy constituency secretary for the Anlo Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Wonder Victor Kutor has donated some relief items to selected health facilities in the Anlo Constituency to help in the preventive fight against the disease.

The items, which are veronica buckets, hand gloves, tissue papers, cartons of liquid soaps and bails of nose masks were donated to the Anyanui, Atorkor, Kodzi and Agortoe health centers all of which are in the Anlo Constituency.

Aside the four health centres, two Community Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds at Trequi and Trekume also benefitted from the relief items.

The donations come a week after other health facilities in the constituency benefitted from similar items from Mr Kutor who was once a Parliamentary Candidate aspirant for the National Democratic Congress for the Anlo Constituency.

In all, over 10 health facilities in the constituency have so far been provided with these items by Mr Kutor in line with the World Health Organization recommended safety items in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking at the ceremony to donate the items at the Anyanui Clinic which was his first point of call,Mr Kutor stressed the need to move quickly as a citizen of the land to contribute to the fight against the disease.

“We are not in normal times. The virus has entered our region. We must, therefore, take steps to prevent it from coming closer by providing these safety items that kill the virus and in the case of the nose masks prevent it from entering our system, he noted.

“As a native who once sought the mandate to lead the people this Is the time to show I have them at heart by mobilizing my little resources to help,”,e added.

According to him,if everyone can in his own small way contribute to fighting a pandemic such as the COVID 19, the fight can be won in no time.

He used the occasion to admonish the people to adhere to the World Health Organization(WHO) recommended protocols of social distancing, avoiding handshakes and the wearing of nose masks in order to further achieve positive results of containing the spreading of the virus.

Receiving the items, the Health Physician at the Anyanui Clinic, Mr Chris Volerto was full of gratitude to Kutor.

He said as a clinic, there is little they could do with providing the items for the clinic. The donations he said could not have come at a perfect time when nine confirmed cases have been recorded in the region.

Mr Kutor who moved to other health centres yesterday for the donation was accompanied by the constituency vice chairman and the Constituency communication officer for the National Democratic Congress for the Anlo Constituency as well as other branch executives.

The Presiding Member for the Anloga District Assembly, Joseph Kpatta received the items on behalf of the Agortoe health centre which was one of the beneficiary facilities.
