Five major markets in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis of the Western Region after been closed down in order to control the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The comes after the Ghana Health Service declared the area as the new hotspot for Covid-19 after it recorded 57 new cases.

Per reports by Starr News Emmanuel Ohene-Gyan, these markets will be closed down for one week.

Upon reopening after a week, traders would be allowed to begin trading on a rotational basis.

Ohene-Gyan reports that data of all traders have been taken. The traders have also been divided into three groups and would be given cards labelled ‘red, gold, green’ to determine what days they are to trade.
