The Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) division of the Upper West Regional Police command have arrested five teenagers at Wa in the Upper West Region following a tip off.

The suspects who are natives of Wa succeeded in stealing at Wapaani and Dobile, suburbs of Wa municipality during the wee hours of Sunday May 10.

The suspects are Richard Ababa- 17 mason, Amemunu Musazu – 16 aluminum glass fabricator, Fuseini Haruna – 17 student, Sita Rahinatu – 16 student and Ibrahim Karim student, dishonest receiver.

Items retrieved from the suspects consist of six (6) used home theater, one (1) strong decoder which was found dumped in a room at Wapaani and one (1) brand new 26 inches flat screen television found in Ibrahim Karim’s possession.

A statement issued and signed by the Upper West Regional PRO of the Ghana Police Service Inspector Gideon Ohene Boateng said investigations conducted by the Regional Police command revealed that the suspects began their activities at 11:50 pm on May 10, and when they realized that they were behind time, they kept the items in that particular room and sold the 26 inches flat screen to Ibrahim Karim at a cost of GHC 350.00 of which he paid one hundred Ghana Cedis remaining Ghc 250.00 at 8:50 am on May 11, when their plot leaked.

According to the statement the suspects will be arraigned before court after investigations conducted.

The Upper West Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. Francis Aboagye Nyarko thanked the community for their support and urged them to assist the police with information to help combat crime in the region.
