Coronavirus deaths in Ghana have increased from 51 to 54 in less than 24 hours.

Earlier in the day, the Ghana Health Service had announced that the death toll had jumped to 51 from 48. However, President in his 11th address since the pandemic announced the new death toll of 54.

The President also wished the Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu who has contracted the virus a speedy recovery.

Active cases of the virus in Ghana now stands at 11, 964 with 4, 258 recoveries.  The President also announced the wearing of mask is mandatory for Ghanaians.

Meanwhile, Susie Agyeman-Manu, wife of Ghana’s Health Minister has denied reports that she has contracted COVID-19.

She told StarrFM.com.gh that none of her children has also contracted the virus.

It comes after media reports that the Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, his wife and a son have contracted the virus. The reports noted they are on admission at the University of Ghana Medical Centre
