Friends, family, strangers, have asked me what is it about Farouk Aliu Mahama that has inspired me so much.
I could talk about his elite education or even his ties to the first NPP Presidency where his father served as a Vice President of the Republic under President Kufuor. I have known and interacted with Alhaji Farouk for more than a decade. His sincerity, love for all, clean heart, generosity and fellow feeling are unmatched.
However, my reasons transcend these. Matter of fact, it does not cover a single piece of the above-stated reasons.
Allegiances fade or wither but Farouk Aliu Mahama has stood with his people. He has and continued to pay his dues. Without recourse to coloration and the divisive tendencies that have characterized political and social activity in this country, he has shown unbridled affection for his people. Supporting diverse communities with boreholes and the routine annual gesture of distributing hundreds of bags of sugar and rice during Ramadan exemplifies a man who holds true to his Dagbana values and the kith and kin of Yendi.
Farouk does not just yoke with his people, he supports what they do. The least said about the bags of fertilizer, the knapsack sprayers, farm boots, and the massive rehabilitation of the Yendi mortuary. In our area, this affects lives, engenders hope and sets people on the path of progress.
Today, he comes calling and I know mighty Yendi, the land of our forefathers will heed. For he at this moment, will represent us well.
As a proud native of Yendi I choose Alhaji FAROUK ALIU MAHAMA FOR YENDI 2020
