Activist Ernesto Yeboah has been picked up by police and military officials at a protest march in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement at the Black Star Square in Accra.
The demonstration which is being spearheaded by the Economic fighters league is part of the spontaneous global campaign to draw attention to racial injustice in America following the killing of George Floyd in the hands of police.
According to Starr News sources, the security officials arrested Mr Yeboah, who is leading the protest, because the group did not wait for the IGP to respond to their notice to stage the protest. He is currently being taken to the Accra Regional Police command.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s Tourism ministry on Friday held a funeral in honour of Mr. Floyd.
On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, died in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes while he was lying face down handcuffed on the street
