The New Patriotic Party has rubbished claims by the opposition NDC that Member of Parliament for the area Lydia Alhassan is busing non-residents into the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency to register in the ongoing voter registration exercise.
Constituency Secretary Sawadogo Nab who spoke to Starr News Musah Lansah rejected the claims of the NDC and said the allegation is to hide the opposition party’s poor preparedness for the exercise.
He said,” I want to state it categorically that it is not true. It is a fabrication. They want to blame the inadequate preparation on their side. They want to use that as an excuse to say that we are doing. It is not true”.
The NDC in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency on Wednesday at a press conference accused the NPP parliamentary candidate who is the incumbent MP for the area of busing people from other constituencies and regions into the area to register as voters.
Constituency Chairman of the NDC Bismark Aborbi Ayitey told the media that his party will resist any attempt to have non-residents register in their constituency.
Confusion at Accra Girls’ Vocational Institute
In a related development, there was tension  at the Accra Girls’ Vocational Institute registration centre in Accra as supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party are reported to have prevented members of the opposition NDC from holding a press conference at the centre.
According to Starr News Musa Lansah, the Police have been called in to restore calm as the supporters hurl insults at each other.
The supporters of the NDC are said to be concerned about some happenings in the registration centres and had planned to address the media on their concerns.  But the NPP members say the centre must not be used for the media encounter sparking the confusion.
