Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo has tested positive for COVID-19, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has announced.

It is unclear when the former Finance Minister tested positive for the Virus. The disclosure of his condition comes days after government announced President Akufo-Addo was self-isolating after coming into contact with a COVID-19 positive person.

A statement signed by Information Minister said the decision is on the advice of the President’s physicians.

“On the advice of doctors, the President of the Republic of Ghana, is from today, July 4, 2020, taking a 14-day precautionary self-isolation measure in compliance with Covid-19 protocols.”

The statement, however, noted that even though an individual around the President had tested positive for the virus, he was negative as of Saturday evening.
