A Circuit Court in Ho presided over by His Lordship Felix Datsomor has convicted and sentenced two notorious armed robbers to a total of 46 years in hard labour on Friday, 17 July, 2020 following their arrest in separate robbery expeditions.

Emmanuel Courage Banitsi, a phone repairer, aged 22 and 19-years old Daniel Yeboah (unemployed) were charged for their involvement in various cases of robbery, burglary; stealing and raping of victims in some instances within the Ho Municipality and were convicted on their own pleas in separate charges of robbery.

Emmanuel Courage Banitsi who was admitted to bail in the same court and was standing trial in a previous robbery incident was arrested again on July 11, 2020 in another robbery incident.

The convict’s mode of operation as uncovered by police investigations include; breaking into victims’ rooms, threatening victims with gun, subsequently robbing the victims of their belongings.

In some instances, they coerced their victims to provide their Mobile Money PINs which they later used to withdraw monies from the accounts of the victims.

Emmanuel Courage Banitai and Daniel Yeboah will serve 33 and 13 years respectively, and are also expected to be in court for other charges of robbery and stealing.

Meanwhile, Bismark Azumah an accomplice of Emmanuel Courage Banitsi, pleaded not guilty to the charges and has been remanded into police custody to reappear on a later date, whereas Prince Adu -a second accomplice is on the run.

The recent criminal activities in the Municipality has forced the Regional Police Command to review its operational strategies to clamp down on such miscreants and their activities.
