As part of measures to curb the incidence of crime and armed robbery in the Amansie South district, the District Chief Executive has cut sod for the construction of a Police station in the mining district in Ashanti Region.

In a short ceremony at the proposed site Manso-Nkran witnessed by the traditional leaders and people in the district, Clement Opoku Gyamfi, MCE for the area expressed his joy over the construction of the police station and revealed that the project is been fully funded by the Minerals Development Fund.

The District is one of the many mining districts in the country and hence the construction been fully funded by the Mineral Development Fund.

Amansie South which has an estimated population of seventy seven thousand (77,000) but currently has only 32 police officers in the whole district which makes crime control very difficult especially as there is a lot of commercial activities especially mining in the district.

The construction is expected to be completed in three months and handed over to the Ghana Police Service for operations.
