The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West Mrs. Ursula Owusu Ekuful in collaboration with the Patriotic Health Team and Girls Girls for Ursula Group organized a breast cancer screening exercise for the market women in the constituency Friday, October 9..

The move follows the marking of October as breast cancer awareness month in countries across the world including Ghana.

The exercise was aimed at increasing attention and supporting awareness, early diagnosis, and treatment as well as palliative care for women facing this disease.

There are about 1.7 million new cases and 522,000 deaths from breast cancer each year, according to a report by Globocan in 2012.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide.
