Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has dedicated the teams win over Sudan to late Ghana President Jerry John Rawlings.

The former President passed away on Thursday, hours before the Black Stars battled their Sudanese counterparts at the Cape Coast stadium.

Andre Ayew who scored the two goals to secure the win paid glowing tribute to the iconic and charismatic former President.

He dedicated the team’s win in honour of the former President JJ Rawlings.

“We fought hard to get a win in honour of His Excellency J.J Rawlings. We know the history and his contribution to the growth of Ghana so the win is dedicated to him” Ayew added.

“These are hard times for the family but we wish them well. May God comfort and bless them.”

Jerry John Rawlings passed on at the nation’s premier hospital, the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Thursday morning.

Jerry Rawlings is said to have been on admission at the hospital for about a week in what is rumored to have been for Covid-19.

The former Ghanaian military leader and later a democratically elected President died at age seventy-three(73)
