President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has declared seven days of national mourning starting on Friday, October 13, 2020, in honour of the late President Jerry John Rawlings.

In addition, the President has also directed that all national flags fly at half-mast in all parts of the country for the next seven days.

Mr Rawlings died at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra Thursday.

Mr. Rawlings had been on admission at the Teaching hospital since Sunday, Starr News sources say.

It comes weeks after the passing of his mother.

President Akufo-Addo in an official statement announcing the former President’s death also stated that he and the vice president, Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia have suspended all campaign activities across the country for the same period.
