The National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) George Opare Addo has debunked claims by the ruling New Patriotic Party that the NDC is behind the recent fire outbreaks in market facilities in Accra.

Addressing hundreds of supporters to climax a protest staged at Odumase Krobo in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region on Tuesday, Mr. Opare Addo said the NDC has no intention to burn market facilities which were constructed when they were in power.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the opposition National Democratic Party (NDC) of the recent fires that destroyed some markets across the country.

According to a statement signed by the NPP General Secretary, the development is a case of arson masterminded and carried out by the NDC as part of its protest against the outcome of the 2020 elections.

Hundreds of aggrieved NDC supporters in the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency of the Eastern Region protested against what they call flawed and fraud outcome of the just ended 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The protesters held varied placards with distinct inscriptions expressing their displeasure against the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

Mr.Opare Addo said the NDC will relentlessly continue to demonstrate to achieve same results as the Arab spring.

He charged the National Peace Council to stop the hypocrisy and speak truth to power.

The Eastern Regional Youth Organizer, Okai Minta cautioned that the NDC is embarking on peaceful protest but will not tolerate acts of intimidation and attacks by the security agencies.

“The Arab spring was caused by protest and it is the same protest we will use to cause change “.

There was heavy presence of armed military and police personnel during the protest.
