Five more Ghanaians have died of COVID-19 bringing the total number of casualties to 346, the Ghana Health Service has announced.

Also,  297 new cases of the virus have been recorded bringing the active case count to 1,776 as of Sunday, January 17, 2021. 53 persons are also in critical condition.

The Greater Accra region continues to lead with the majority of the cases.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo is set to address the nation on measures being taken by his government to curb the spread of the virus as schools reopen this week.

This will be the President’s 22nd address to the nation since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.
