Member of Parliament for Yagaba Kubore Mustapha Yussif has been appointed Youth and Sports Minister-designate and will replace Isaac Asiamah as the new minister for the sector.

Mustapha Yussif, the former Executive Secretary of the National Service Scheme (NSS) has been nominated by President Akufo-Addo as the Minister of Youth and Sports, subject to Parliament’s appointment committee’s approval after vetting.

His appointment was confirmed in a statement from the Presidency on the list of ministerial appointments for the new government in the second term of President Akufo Addo.

Yusif’s exploits at the National Service secretariat carved a niche for himself and that has now earned him the elevation to the ministerial position of a ministry considered to be one of the hottest ministries in Ghana’s governance.

During his tenure at the NSS, the secretariat in line with government’s digitisation agenda deployed a paperless registration system which cured the controversies that usually characterized the registration process of NSS personnel. The NSS as well moved to introduce certificate issuance via online. Payment of allowances of NSS personnel was more prompt and pleasing.
