Seventeen persons have died after two Yutong buses clashed at Sarekyekura in the Central Gonja District of the Savannah Region.

The vehicles with registration numbers GT 3345-16 and AC 1699-20 with about 45 passengers onboard each were travelling from Kumasi to Zebila and from Garu to Kumasi respectively.

Forty-five other passengers onboard the two vehicles are also said to have sustained various degrees of injuries and in critical condition. They have been rushed to the Buipe polyclinic and holistic Medicare where they are receiving treatment.

According to a police situational report, the suspected drivers are yet to be identified.
