Health Minister, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu

The Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has directed Health minister Kweku Agyemang-Manu to appear before the house today over the state of health facilities in the country.

Mr Agyemang-Manu is expected to be in the house within two hours as directed by the speaker to answer questions on the state of health facilities at Sefwi Akontombra in the Western North region. The question is standing in the name of lawmaker Alex Tetteh.

“…Its completely disrespectful of parliament and I’m not going to take that.

“I direct that the minister appears before Parliament within two hours two answer the questions. Failing to do so, the necessary consequences will apply. Ministers must take parliamentary business seriously,” the Speaker directed.

He stressed “the time is 11:40, within two hours, the minister should appear to answer this question.”

Majority whip Frank Annor Dompreh explained the minister was attending to other equally important commitments.

But Minority Whip Muntaka Mubarak rejected the explanation praying the speaker to send a signal to President Akufo-Addo’s appointees that the 8th parliament was not the 7th one and cannot be taken for granted.
