It was all joy for the Western Regional Police Command when they received the latest five (5) brand new motorbikes from the Member of Parliament for Effia and Minister for Public Enterprises Joseph Cudjoe valued at over thirty-thousand Ghana Cedis to help the police fight crime.

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis was caught unawares on April 10th and 11th after individuals believed to be armed robbers on speeding motorbikes shot two mobile money vendors at Ahenkofi and Takoradi and bolted with some undisclosed amount of both E and physical cash.

On the 13th of April suspected robbers also shot and killed a sixty-one year Ghanaian based in Switzerland at Amanful also a suburb in Takoradi.

Western Regional Police Commander Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Felix Fosu Agyeman who received the motorbikes said he and his men have been motivated and energised by the kind gesture from the minister.

“These latest motorbikes will augment some of the motorbikes we have already and there is no better time like today April 21, occasions like these gives us hope, some of this logistical support enhances our daily operations,” he said.

DCOP Fosu Agyeman intimated that police command in the region has taken the fight against crime to the doorsteps of criminals who want to take advantage of the peaceful atmosphere especially in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis and the Effia-Kwesimintsim.

“These brand new motorbikes will make us more visible at public and vantage places to ward off criminals and also move swiftly when the need arises”.

He reiterated the police administration’s commitment to ensure that lawful residents go about their normal duties without any apprehensions.

DCOP Fosu Agyeman urged other benevolent and well-meaning individuals and institutions to emulate the lawmaker’s gesture.

Special Aide to the MP cum minister, Philip Evans Nyarko, presenting the motorbikes revealed that the security of residents in the region and Ghanaians at large is paramount to his boss.

“Security is a shared responsibility and my boss (Hon Joseph Cudjoe) expressed worry over recent robbery attacks on innocent people, this is his little support to the hard work done by the police despite the scares resources”, he told the police

Mr Nyarko also appealed to residents to be security conscious and provide the police with real-time information to clamp down on criminals who live among them.

The Takoradi and Kwesimintsim Police Command received two(2) motorbikes while one went to the Effiekuma police station.

Present at the ceremony was the Regional Police Commander and his 2/ic, Regional MTTD Commander, Regional Crime Officer, Staff Officer, Regional Accountant, Public Affairs Officer among others.
