Chiefs and residents of Gomoa Abamkrom in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region have expressed anger over the lack of developmental projects in the community.

According to them, over the years, the government has neglected their community in terms of developmental projects unlike other communities in the Gomoa West District.

Speaking to starrfm.com.gh, they said the government should be clear on whether or not they are part of the Gomoa West District.

Some residents stated that the entire community of about 1,000 in population have no healthcare facility.

“We don’t even have a CHIP compound which will provide first aid for the people in the community. We have to travel far distances to seeking healthcare. We mostly lose our loved ones even before getting to the closest hospital.

According to them, pregnant women go through lots of challenges in the area.
The residents added that they will vote against the NPP government if their requests are not addressed.

The Chief of Gomoa Abamkrom Nana Egyina Abam V during a sod-cutting ceremony to build new health center and nurses quarters, revealed that the Late John Evens Atta Mills administration started building a health center for the community which has been left to rot.

The Chief hinted that many letters and proposals have been sent to the Gomoa West District Assembly to seek help but all to no avail

He said ”there is no development in the community, all the roads are in deplorable states and there’s no proper drinking water. We need to know from the government, if clearly we are part of the Gomoa West District.”

He also noted that the community has never benefitted from any government intervention, thereby, appealing to the government to come to their aid to help build the health center and the nursing quarters initiated by the natives of the community
