A second tranche of 350,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines has arrived in Ghana from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The delivery which is part of the COVAX initiative was supervised by UNICEF.

The vaccines, which were allocated to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), were sent to Ghana after the DRC failed to utilise them weeks after they took delivery of them.

It was received at the Kotoka International Airport by the Chief Director of the Ministry of Health Kwabena Boadu Oku-Afari.

In February Ghana took delivery of the first batch of 600,000 doses of the AstraZeneca from India. So far, the country has vaccinated 849,527 people.
