The Paramount Chief of Ga Traditional Area, His Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has pledged support to the 1Million Bin initiative of waste management company Zoomlion Ghana Limited to fight bad environmental practices.

The Ga Mantse has also appealed to all stakeholders including traditional and religious leaders to support the initiative to achieve President Nana Akufo-Addo’s  vision of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, made the call when the management of Zoomlion Ghana Limited paid homage to the Ga Mantse and the Traditional council. King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II applauded the Executive Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong and the management of Zoomlion Ghana Limited for the various waste management projects embarked upon nationwide. The Ga Mantse announce that he is working hard with some key stakeholders in the waste management sector to help improve environmental sanitation in the Ga State. He blamed the bad environmental practices in Accra metropolis for the perennial flooding in the capital particularly the growing phenomenon of indiscriminate dumping of waste and waste burning as he demanded that those practices must stop.

He suggested proper education of the public, the provision of more communal trash bins, and the collection of waste by private contractors to deal with the sanitation problems in Accra.

For her part, the MD of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mrs Gloria Opoku-Anti noted that the visit was to congratulate the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II on his enstoolment and further discuss areas for collaboration. She reiterated the chieftaincy institution as a very important stakeholder in the fight against bad environmental practices within communities and the country as a whole.

Mrs. Opoku-Anti, called on the Ga State promote peace during the upcoming Homowo celebration. The Management of Zoomlion presented items including Waste bins, Water and Assorted drinks and an amount of GHc20,000 to the Ga Mantse.
