Veteran journalist Kwabena Yeboah has criticized the current management structure of Ghanaian football giant Asante Kotoko describing the ownership and management structure of the club as a joke.

Kwabena Yeboah who is a known supporter of the two-time African Club Champions in an answer to a question on why Asante Kotoko have been struggling to replicate their form in African club competitions in the past said the current structure of the club is unhelpful.

The ace broadcaster whose career spans over three decades believes the management and ownership structure at Kotoko must be looked at again if the club wants to be vibrant and rock shoulders with the giants of African football as was the case in the past.

“Kotoko needs a paradigm shift from how the club is run now if they want to compete with the likes of Al- Ahly, TP Mazembe and the rest.

“What’s happening in Kotoko is a joke. I’m not being a prophet of doom but if there’s no paradigm shift in how the club is run, they’ll keep sinking”.

He stressed: “times have changed and the current system of ownership and management is not helping the team, Kotoko needs strategic investors who will invest hugely in the team and run the club as a professional entity with set targets,” he said on Starr Chat with Nana Aba Anamoah.

Kwabena Yeboah, President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana who was a ball boy for the Porcupine warriors in the past believes the club will continue to struggle to reclaim it’s lost glory in Africa unless there is a change in the structure at the club.

“Until there’s a paradigm shift at Kotoko, they’ll keep marking time and cannot compete in Africa. It’s shameful to see Kotoko go to Africa and get kicked out in the first round by teams with no pedigree” You cannot always be changing Boards, CEO’s and coaches with no proper business structure and expect the team to rise” he concluded.

Kwabena Yeboah is the current president of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana and a mentor to a number of sports journalists in Ghana.
