The captain of the Black stars of Ghana, Andre Ayew has stated in the Zimbabwe-Ghana post-match press conference today that he started from the bench as a result of an existing injury he picked up prior before the match.

Thomas Partey, who was the captain of the Ghana national team scored the only goal of the game with a sublime freekick to seal all three points for Ghana at the expense of the Warriors.

Andre Ayew however played just five minutes after replacing Kudus Mohammed in the 86th minute.

Speaking after the game, Ayew said;
“It was not an easy time for me and the players. We are in a period were I’ve go be there for the team and indeed every point is important”.

“Sometimes you have to think about the collectiveness and the boss [Coach Milovan Rajevac] did the rightful thing by playing me from the bench. For me I’m so happy we have this three points” he added.

The Black stars will play their fifth qualifier against Ethiopia away from home on 11th November, 2021.
