The Angola Ambassador to Ghana, Joao Baptista Domingos, has called on African countries to trade more among themselves in order to create wealth and reduce the threatening youth unemployment on the continent.

Mr. Baptista Domingos noted that the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA) and the One District One Factory (1D1F) initiative by the Ghanaian government are a lifeline to achieving the African dream in the areas of local-trade and investment.

“We have decided to follow our leaders to trade within Africa and Ghana is leading the inter-trade. It has been a while our leaders have spoken and exchanged ideas. Mostly, it has been a political exchange. It’s time Africa trade among itself instead of our wealth exported as raw materials and sold to us at exorbitant rates.

“Ghana has the One District, One Factory as an example for everyone to follow. If we can all have one factory in every district in every country, we will industrialize ourselves,” he told the media on the side-line of a breakfast meeting with the Business Community, spearheaded by the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) in the Volta region.

The Angola Ambassador’s visit to the Volta region was intended to enable him to assess the potential business and investment opportunities in the region.

He observed that it is time that leaders on the continent back the African dream by intensifying trade among countries on the continent.

The Chairman for AGI for the Volta/Eastern and Oti regions, Dela Gadzanku said the association is on a mission to industrialize the Volta region in the areas of Agribusiness, tourism and ICT.

“We want to focus on key sectors like Agribusiness, the tourism sector and ICT. Many things and good things are happening in the Volta and we believe it is our time to shine,” he disclosed.
