The police has accused the husband of Rhodaline Amoah-Darko, a staffer of the Lands Commission in the Ashanti region of being behind her disappearance.
He has therefore been put before the Asokwa District Court in Kumasi and accused of kidnapping.
This is following a revelation by the police that investigators have been able to link mobile phone communications to implicate the husband, who is a lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Rhodaline Amoah-Darko was reported missing after she reportedly left home at Gyenyase in Kumasi on August 30, 2021, and did not return.
After Rhodaline reportedly went missing, the husband reported the incident.
Communication from her mobile phone allegedly from suspected kidnappers demanding a ransom emanated from a location close to her residence.
A communication from the husband’s phone reporting the incident to relatives also emanated from the same location, according to the police per their investigations.
According to the police, the husband has provided inconsistent responses to that in addition to where Rhodaline went to on the day she did not return.
The Asokwa District Court has ordered for a psychiatric examination of the husband.
A police prosecutor on Friday told the court that the husband had told the police that the suspected kidnappers forced him to send the message.
He has also allegedly told the police, according to the prosecutor that he sent Rhodaline to somewhere near the Volta Lake but has since not been able to tell exactly where Rhodaline was.
