Insurance Group, Hollard Ghana and its subsidiaries, Hollard Insurance and Hollard Life Assurance, has refurbished the Information Communication Technology (ICT) centre of the Nima Cluster of Schools as part of its social impact drive to give back to society.
The renovation works that cost about GHS 70,000, included repairing and replacing 46 computers, the provision of up-to-date software, Wi-Fi cards, UPS, a projector and screen, and internet connection. In addition to structural works such as retiling the floor, ceiling replacement, painting, furniture repair, installation of air conditioning units, fans, and burglar proofing, among others, create a conducive learning environment for pupils.
The centre was officially out-doored by the Group CEO, Hollard Ghana, Patience Akyianu, accompanied by the Director for Ayawaso East Municipal Director of Education, Miss Adisa Tassa, the Group Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Hollard, Cynthia Ofori-Dwumfuo, the two headmistresses, Hollard and Nima Basic 1 and 2 school officials, as well as a selection of pupils.
Speaking on the company’s motivation, the Group CEO for Hollard Ghana, Patience Akyianu, said this activity forms part of its purpose to enable its community to create a better future.
“Our mantra at Hollard is ‘We Do Well By Doing Good.’ We aim to impact our community positively by treating them with care and dignity. We find fulfilment in ensuring that the communities we operate in are better off than before. We engaged the School Improvement Support Officer of the district, Mr Alhassan, and the Nima Cluster of Schools authorities. We discovered that their ICT facility was appalling and incapable of serving the needs of the schools. It had only three barely functional desktops serving about 1000 students in a dilapidated space. As a responsible corporate citizen, we knew we had to act, and so we did.” she noted.
“These young pupils are the future of Ghana, with a right to quality education regardless of their background. By refurbishing the ICT centre, we believe we support upgrading teaching and learning from theory to practice. With the added advantage of boosting students’ interest in ICT”.
On her part, the Director for Ayawaso East Municipal Director of Education, Miss Adisa Tassa, commended Hollard Ghana for their prompt and comprehensive support within a short period.
“We are very grateful to Hollard Ghana for embarking on this phenomenal project. I am stunned because of the volume of work done within three weeks of identifying the problem. The effort, time, and funding put into the project speak volumes of Hollard Ghana’s passion for supporting its community. I am even more impressed that the company has offered to provide internet connectivity for now and all through 2022. Through this kind gesture, my district can boldly boast of an ultra-modern ICT centre,” she said
The headmistresses of the Nima Cluster of Schools made up of Nima Basic 1, and 2 schools, Miss Eva Edna Bani and Patricia Owusu Ansah, expressed their gratitude to Hollard Ghana for their immense support to the school.
