The Accounts Officer who was sacked by the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for accusing Management of misapplication of Covid-19 funds has challenged his dismissal in court.

Mr. Awuni Akyireba has filed an order of Certiorari at the High Court in Kumasi seeking to quash the decision taken by KATH on December 20, last year.

In the writ sighted by Starr News, Mr. Akyireba’s is seeking “an order of Judicial Review in the nature of Certiorari to quash the decision of the Governing Board of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi dated December, 20, 2021.”

According to him, the hospital never gave him the opportunity to appear before the hospital disciplinary committee to justify his claims against the hospital management in the alleged misappropriation of COVID funds.

However, responding to the issue on Kumasi base Abusua FM, Public Affairs Director of the Hospital, Kwame Frimpong disclosed the hospital is yet to receive any official letter from CHRAJ on the supposed petition filed by the former employee against the management.

“Management has read in the media about the said petition, however, we haven’t been officially informed by CHRAJ over the said petition’’ he disclosed.

He added “the hospital bought the cars with its own internal generated funds through the approval of the hospital board. Therefore, no use of COVID funds here. The payment was done in installments. Akyreba Awuni alleged that the medical director’s wife crashed his new vehicle in an accident that was also not true. It was medical director who was driving when the accident occurred.’’
