Pollster and Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper, Ben Ephson has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to keep Black Stars Coach, Milovan Rajevac, despite the abysmal performance of the team in the ongoing AFCON.

According to him, Ghana had a very limited pool of players to choose from and “we are behaving like the English League system no matter how good a coach you are if the results don’t favor you, we sack you.”

“I think that Ghana is paying a price for trying to harvest what we have not planted in sports. I think that if you look back from the days of Adolf Armah, Polo, we had a very strong pre-first division league. Because now there is money in sport and people playing abroad and so on, if we decentralize and organize our lower football we will get football talents that we will be very surprised at,” he disclosed on the Morning Starr with Francis Abban.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has summoned officials of the Ghana Football Association for an emergency meeting over the disgraceful exit of the Black Stars at the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

A statement from the Sports Ministry expressed disappointment over the performance of the Black stars and stated the Ministry would want to meet officials of the FA on Friday to discuss the way forward.

The Black Stars were eliminated from the competition after a defeat to minnows Comoros and failed to win a single match at the group stage.

Ghana’s elimination from the competition is the worst performance by the Senior National Team in the AFCON tournament in history.

The majority of Ghanaians have called on the FA to immediately relieve the head coach of the team Milovan Rajevac over his poor performance.

But, the one-time Sports Journalist stated that Ghana cannot go about football organization anyhow and invest heavily during competitions and expect any good progress.

The Pollster added that “Comoros used us to make history, they have never scored a goal at AFCON before.”

“If you go and bring in a new coach you are now going to try his system and you don’t have enough time to prepare for the World Cup Qualifiers,” advised.

Ben Ephson further advised the Coach, Milovan Rajevac to study the nation’s on-going Premier League and scout for players since the league is in better form now.
