The Ministry of National Security has said the publication in circulation on social media which purports that a freelance Journalist, Sacut Amenga-Etegu has been unduly arrested and detained is false.
“Contrary to the content of the publication, the Journalist was arrested based on an order of a High Court for filming and/or videoing the Court’s proceedings without authority.
“It is worth noting that the journalist was remanded by the same Court to reappear on 14th March 2022,” the Ministry explained in a press release.
The Ministry added that “the public is, therefore, urged to disregard the content of the false publication in circulation on the social media.”

The Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government is still in the business of suppressing press freedom in the country.
- NDC Activist and freelance Journalist, SaCut Amenga-Etego has been arrested by operatives of the National Intelligence Bureau, formerly BNI.
- The Officers have refused to release him since yesterday.
- Sacut has been investigating a case of extortion of some Indian businessmen in Ghana by some security operatives.
- Sacut was in court yesterday to follow the case and was arrested after court proceedings.
- He has been accused of taking pictures of the NIB operatives after the case has been adjourned yesterday.
- Readers are reminded that the petition against Paul Adom-otchere at CHRAJ on allegations abuse of office about the procurement of Christmas Tree was filed by Sacut.
- It appears some the NIB operatives having realised he is the Petitioner in the CHRAJ case and also following the Indian case, decided to show him where power lies.
