Interim manager for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Augustine Eguavoen has asserted that the absence of Wilfred Ndidi in the squad to face Ghana will not be a problem despite the midfielders magnificent capabilities at the heart of midfield.
Ndidi who has averaged a pass accuracy of 86.2 in the AFCON where his side had to exit in the round of 16 in Cameroon and would have played a major role in the all-important World Cup qualifier against Ghana, will eventually have to miss the tie due to a knee injury he picked last week in Europa League.
On the contrary, the manager indicates that, even though the quality of Ndidi cannot be undermined, there are other players who can equally fill the void left by the Leicester City man.
“He(Ndidi) is an important player for the National team but it is not going to change anything. We have a couple of players who can play in that position and they’ve been watching (following). So the philosophy will not change. Style of play will not change. Only personel will change a little bit.” He told the media.
The Black Stars will battle it out with their Nigerian counterparts at the Baba Yara Stadium at 7pm on Friday, March 25.
