The leaders of France, Germany and Italy have arrived in Kyiv for talks, after taking a night train from Poland.

Emmanuel Macron, Olaf Scholz and Mario Draghi aim to counter criticisms of their support for Ukraine

Scholz says the visit shows their commitment to Ukraine – “financial and humanitarian, but also when it comes to weapons”

It comes a day after the US pledged another $1bn of weapons aid to Kyiv.

Meanwhile, 10,000 civilians are trapped in the embattled eastern city of Severodonetsk, a reginal governor says.

There is a diminishing supply of water in the key city, with the situation particularly dire for those holed up in a chemical plant.
