The Black Stars of Ghana triumphed over the Barea of Madagascar in a 3-0 score line of their first game in the 2023 Afcon qualifiers at the Cape Coast sports stadium.

Kudus Mohammed, Felix Afena Gyan and Osman Bukari were on target to give the Stars maximum points in the Group E opener

Ghana were in full control in the first 45 minutes of the game creating a lot of goal scoring chances. However, the four-time African champions failed to utilise them.

Jordan Ayew, Dennis Odoi, Felix Afena Gyan and Baba Rahman were all culprits fluffing off the numerous opportunities to break the deadlock in the first half

Ghana continued from where they left off in second half firing from all cylinders. In the 54th minute, Dennis Odoi in one of his surging runs found Afena Gyan on the right flank. The AS Roma prodigy smartly spotted Kudus Mohammed whose close range hit the roof of the net for the first goal of the game .

Two minutes later, Afena Gyan got his name on the scoresheet for his debut goal for the Black Stars with a beautiful flick to register Ghana’s second goal of the game.

With just six minutes on the clock to end the game, Osman Bukari who came on for Ishaku Fatawu slotted home the 3rd goal after rounding off the keeper to plunge the whole stadium into wild jubilation.

Ghana heads into the next game as group winners following Angola’s 2 – 1 over Central Africa Republic who host Black Stars on June 5
