Cameroun Football Fédération boss, Samuel Eto’o Fils, has shared his opinion on Ghana’s top striker and goal scorer, Asamoah Gyan’s ambition to play again for the Black Stars during the 2022 World Cup at Qatar.

Asamoah Gyan in an interview with the BBC’s John Bennet opened up on his desire to don the colours of the nation again at the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar.

The former Udinese, Rennes and Sunderland forward says he is embarking on the fitness programme to put himself in a good shape in hope that he will make the list to the Mundial in November.

This has generated a lot of conversation in the media with others sharing their thoughts. Former Youth and Sports minister, Hon Vincent Oppong Asamoah shutdown Gyan’s hope of playing in Qatar later this year. Meanwhile former Newcastle and Vitesse winger who played together with Gyans for the Black Stars, Christian Atsu, has backed the dream of his former captain.

UEFA Champions League winner, Samuel Eto’o has waded in the conversation. In an interview with Nana Aba Anamoah on GHOne TV, the four-time African Player of the Year, Samuel Eto’o shared his take on Gyan’s disclosure to be back to the national team, the Black Stars.

Eto’o Fils stated that he’s happy Asamoah Gyan wants to take up the challenge of making another appearance at the World Cup.

“Asamoah Gyan being my younger brother has actually given us great joy, lots of pleasure and I’m glad to know that he wants to take uo this challenge. But once again, the final decision lies in the hands of the coach,” he said.

Asamoah Gyan’s last match for Ghana was in July 2019 in an Afcon round of 16 defeat against Tunisia.
