The Ghana Police Service says it has commenced investigation into the alleged attacks by some unknown persons on Stephen Kofi Adomah, a staff of Angel Broadcasting Network.

The attack on the journalist on 6th August, 2022 at Old Ashongman Village in Accra has raised the debate on security for journalists in the country.

However, the Police in a brief statement has indicated that “Investigation into the alleged incident commenced immediately the matter came to the attention of the Police.”

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has condemned the attack on the Director of News for Accra-based Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN).

According to the Association, the incident nearly caused the death of the journalist.

“The unknown assailants, riding on a motorbike, attacked him with a sharp object and tried to set him ablaze, while the broadcast journalist was returning from Kuntunse to Accra,” GJA narrated in a news release dated August 7, 2022.

The GJA said they “find the attack heinous and dastardly, and call on the Ghana Police Service to launch immediate investigation into the attack.

“We also urge the general public to support the police in their investigations to bring the perpetrators to face the law.”
