Prince Harry is headed to Balmoral without his wife Meghan amid reports of his grandmother The Queen’s worsening health – as immediate family members gather at Balmoral Castle.

The couple had been due to attend the Well-child Awards in London this evening but it is confirmed they have cancelled their appearance.

It is understood Meghan will remain in London, but will not attend the WellChild awards. The duchess could potentially join Harry in Scotland at a later date, the source said, following the change of plan.

Prince Charles travelled to Balmoral by helicopter from his Scottish home Birkall with his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, is now with The Queen, as is Princess Anne.

Prince Andrew and Prince Edward are understood to be travelling as are Princes William and Harry.

Prince William rushed to Scotland amid growing concerns for the Queen’s health but Kate has stayed at Adelaide Cottage and was spotted leaving Windsor Castle to collect the children from school this afternoon.

Today was the first day for Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4, at their new £50k-a-year Lambrook School.

Yesterday the family-of-five arrived together for a ‘settling-in’ afternoon, with cheery photographs of them walking in hand-in-hand released this morning. But today it was just Kate doing the school run.

News about the growing concerns over the health of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II was carried on the homepages of newspapers around the world on Thursday.

Buckingham Palace said her doctors were ‘concerned’ for her health and recommended that she remain under medical supervision at Balmoral castle. The 96-year-old head of state – Britain’s longest-serving monarch – has been dogged by health problems since last year that have left her struggling to walk and stand.
