Following GHOne TV’s report on the alleged sale of a newborn in Accra, the Department of Social Welfare of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has temporarily taken custody of the baby while the parent heads to court this week to determine who should be the custodian of the child.

A 51-year-old goldsmith Kwesi Tetteh Zodah accused his now ex-girlfriend of selling their new born child for Five Thousand Cedis after claims that the baby had died during birth.

GHOne TVEvelyn Araba Aidoo was at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Ministries Police Station in Accra on Friday where both families met.

As expected, there were altercations between the families of the complainant Kwesi Tetteh Zodah, the 51-year-old physically challenged goldsmith and his accused ex-girlfriend Patience Efe Mawutor at the waiting room of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit of the Ministries Police Station in Accra on Friday September 2, 2022

Since 10:30am on Friday when the news team got to the station, both parties were already there.

In her blue T-shirt and a pair of white jeans trousers while carrying the newborn girl, patience was accompanied by the buyer of the baby , together with her father, a lawyer and other two people.

While kwesi Tetteh was in the company of his two brothers and an Inlaw.

As the altercations got heated , both parties were ushered into separate rooms for their statements taken.

For the seven hours that the news team stayed at the premises between 10:30am to 4:30pm both parties were still being engaged by the officers.

Earlier when contacted, the father of the accused said all what has been said by the complaints was not true but was stopped by their lawyer to give an further explanations.
