The Ashanti regional chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Augustus Nana Akwasi Andrews, has been re-elected after Sunday’s polls.

The weekend’s polls in the region gave Nana Kwasi 637 beating his main contender lawyer Evans Amankwa, who polled 572.

Incumbent Regional organizer Isham Yaw Bonsu, Youth Organizer Osman Nabili, and Communications director Abass Nurudeen also retained their seats.

The incumbent regional Chairman was full of praise to all delegates for re-electing him to lead the party into the 2024 general elections in the stronghold of the ruling NPP.

“Let’s move away from creating factions within the party,” he said. “We have to unite towards returning to power in 2024. We are winning the elections and a lot will depend on us here in the Ashanti Region.”

Gt. Accra Region

A former Member of Parliament (MP) for the  Adentan constituency, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore toppled the incumbent chairman Joseph Ade Coker to become the new regional chairman of the NDC in the region.

The former lawmaker polled 327 votes to beat Coker who polled 222 votes.
