The opposition National Democratic Congress in the Volta region is urging Ghanaian farmers not to despair in the face of the challenges they current face.

As the country marks the 2022 Farmer’s Day, the NDC in the Volta region in a statement says it recognises the “toils, sacrifices and dedication” of Ghanaian farmers in ensuring that there is food always the tables to feed the millions of the population.

“We fully empathise and identify with the current precarious situation of astronomical cost of fertilisers, high cost of poultry feed and other such agricultural inputs under the Nana regime to feed the population,” the statement added.

But in the face of all these challenges, the party is encouraging and urging the farmers not to despair as it prepares to snatch power from the New Patriotic Party in 2024 “with John Mahama as the captain” to restore the country back on the path of economic growth.

Across the country, from the National to Regional and District levels ceremonies are being held today to celebrate the farmers.

The National Farmer’s Day is a day set aside to recognise the importance farmers play in national development.
