Former President John Mahama has called on delegates to elect competent and hardworking candidates to lead the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general election.

The NDC Presidential hopeful disclosed this at Asawase constituency as part of his campaign tour to the Ashanti region.

Mr. Mahama pleaded with the sympathizers of the Parliamentary candidate hopefuls in the constituency and their support to eschew political campaigns of insults that have the potential to break unity in the party before, during and after the Parliamentary and Flag-bearership contest.

The former President Mahama described the incumbent Asawase Constituency MP as a solid team player who has worked for the NDC at all levels particularly in Parliament.

“I would like to commend my brother Muntaka because we have worked with him for years, I have known him for many years. He is one of our party’s reliable pillars in Parliament. At the moment I’m the father for all aspirants and party members. It is not fair for me to direct where your votes should go but I know all of you standing here have all made up their mind already to vote for a competent person’’.
