In what appears to be truly extraordinary declaration, 11-year-old student has set his sights on a career goal that is usually far from the minds of children.

Meet Stanley Apenteng, a form-one Junior High School student at the Presbyterian Women’s College of Education Demonstration School in Aburi, located in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Stanley has a remarkable dream—to become the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations is the highest administrative officer of this global organization, responsible for leading the United Nations Secretariat—a critical component of the UN’s six principal organs.

Stanley Apenteng, with unwavering enthusiasm, has expressed his aspiration to become the UN Secretary General with the mission of bringing peace to the world and addressing poverty.

“I want to learn hard and become a UN Secretary General to achieve my goal of bringing all the nations together and bringing peaceful living among all the nations because people are losing their lives and others too are losing their jobs. People are suffering so I just want to bring peace and the world together and when we are together the world will be strong “Stanley Apenteng told Starr FM’s Eastern Regional correspondent Kojo Ansah in his school.

Stanley’s journey is not without its challenges, as he comes from a financially disadvantaged family.

However, his community has already rallied around him.

Daniel Asiamah, the Assembly Member for Aburi West Electoral Area, has stepped forward to sponsor Stanley’s education.

On Wednesday October 5, 2023 the Assembly-member donated books and other learning materials to Stanley Apenteng and other needy students in the electoral area.

The Assembly member also intends to designate Stanley as a peace ambassador for the community to promote peace during events.

He has called on UNESCO and the UN to extend their support to this young boy as he works towards realizing his dream of becoming the UN Secretary General.

Mercy Darko, the Headmistress of Stanley’s school, has expressed her astonishment and admiration for his ambitious dream.

She said Stanley had enrolled in the school just two days ago to continue his education.

Nonetheless, the headmistress revealed that the school’s management plans to establish a committee to offer Stanley the necessary academic and attitudinal support required to help him achieve his dreams.

Stanley’s heartfelt aspirations remind us that with determination and support, even the most extraordinary dreams can be realized.

His desire to become a UN Secretary General is a testament to the transformative power of education and the aspirations of young African students seeking to make the world a better place through global peace and unity among nations.
