The governing New Patriotic Party is expected to hold its presidential primaries on Saturday November 4, 2023 across the country.

According to the party, they have engaged all relevant stakeholders that will let them have a successful primaries on Saturday November 4.

Speaking on Starr FM midday news with Naa Dedei Tettey the Director of Elections for the NPP, Evans Nimako stated that the Electoral Commission and the Ghana Police Service have given them the needed advice for successful presidential primaries.

“I must say that so far the New Patriotic Party is set to have a very successful presidential primaries. This has come to this stage because the party committee put together for the presidential primaries chaired by Professor Aron Mike Oquaye did broaden consultations. With critical stakeholders that are presidential candidates, the party’s rank and file, the Electoral Commission and the Ghana Police Service.   

“All these put together the party put together what are the presidential primaries guidelines and this is a product that has everybody on board. So I can say with all confidence in me that the New Patriotic Party is set to conduct a very successful presidential primaries,” Mr. Nimako stated.

In all 204,144 delegates are expected to cast their votes which consist of polling station executives in 38,622 polling stations among others. 

Mr. Nimako further explained that as part of the list are Electoral Area Coordinators in all the 6,272 electoral areas.

“We also have our external branch 12 from each of the 27 branches, we have our national council members, national executive committee members. We have our Members of Parliament, Ministers, Regional Ministers and our Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

“The Council of Elders and Patrons are coming with 15 delegates each, accredited TESCON institutions across the country. They will be voting in the constituencies where they are located and our regional executives have also been allocated to constituencies within the region.

“So in all as I mentioned a total of 204,144 people will cast their votes on Saturday November 4, 2023,” Mr. Nimko stated.
